stuck?
i was recently replacing my alternator in my 77 f-150 351m, when the top alternator bolt going to the head broke off inside. i've tried drilling for the past few days and have barely gone a 1/4 in. is there a different place to mount the alternator or a bracket that mounts lower?

Torch blasting broken bolts
If you cant get it out with the usual methods, call some of your local exhaust shops and ask if they can remove it with a welding torch. They can actually blast it out without hurting the threads cause there is a thermal break between the bolt and the block. This is how some shops remove broken exhaust studs from our Fords. Sounds scarry, but works great.

sounds like your drill bits are dull......i had that happen to me once, but i got lucky, about a 1/4 inch in the bit grabbed the bolt and started turning it in, so i put the drill in reverse and the bolt backed right out, so i didnt even need the easy out i just bought beforehand....if your a 1/4 inch in you should be able to get an easy out to grab it..........
