Well I'd like to put a pair of fog lights on my 1993 F-150 XLT. My biggest problem is getting the wires through the firewall and to the dashboard. Will I have to drill a hole in the firewall? and where is the best place to run the wires through the dash? Any help is appreciated. Thanks.
My 94 has a thru hole (with a rubber grommet plugging it up) just south and left of the master brake cylinder. I beleive its factory so your 93 may have one also.
Popa Tim
I cheated with mine. I went around, up in that crack between the hood and front fender, slid it in the door, under the molding, and under the dash. If that makes no sense, disreguard my post.
I did the same as Tim and i think thats the best and easiest way to run it, the rubber grommet below the master cylinder. The hole comes through the cab down by the pedals, just zip tie it somewhere under the dash and run it to your switch. I found the best place to mount the little switches they give you is in the cubby hole on the dash (by your right knee when driving). The panel that its apart of is held on by a couple of screws and pops off. So when you mount your switch take that little panel off (the one that has the cubby hole part of it below the steering wheel). When its off drill a hole in the back for the wires and mount the switch, put the panel back in and your switch is mounted. If your put it close to the side the opening is still big enough for like a wallet. Have you decided on where your gonna mount the lights? I know myself and many others here have put the fog lights on the grill. Some have put lights behind the grill and on the bumper too. Make sure you measure the space you want to put them and get lights according. Like if you want to put them in the grill make sure theyll fit lol. To put them on i took off the grill (theres just screws on the top holding it on) drilled the mounting holes and screwed down the lights, real easy. Ive got pics in the gallery.
Im 17 and its a summer afternoon...ive got nothing better to do than write a novel on putting in fog lights lol. If you have any more questions let us know. Hope i helped some. Jason
Thats where I run my light and tach wire, sn0wman and tim. The grille mount is cool looking...I've also had small ones under the bumper. Finally, I got rid of those and installed a pair behind my grille....I call them stealth lights, lol
