A few problems...
First item: Recently the truck has taken to not doing anything when I turn the key to start it (I do get the electrical functions). Thinking it's contacts in the ignition switch.
Second item: Wobbly shift lever. Has travel of about 6" or so at the ****. Bushings? Worn-out shifter?
Third item: Shifts rough at times. Won't go into gear easily when it's acting up. Have to slam it into first; can 'mesh' the gears at higher speeds and when I slow down to stop (well, most of the time, anyway). Thinking the clutch hydraulics need to be rebled.
Fourth item: Bad vibration at take-off from the right front wheel. Thinking it has to do with the 4-wheel-drive, maybe hubs or front differential.
Fifth item: Vibration starts from the same wheel (Item # 4) at about 45 MPH. Have tried to get it aligned but they won't do so until I replace the wheel bearings, have checked them and they aren't bad. The front axle shaft does wiggle, though.
Also have a bad evaporator on the AC but I got a new one to put in...other than that the truck runs strong and quiet, body is in good shape, could use a new interior, maybe a swap of seats from an Explorer...oh yes, got the truck for free from my stepfather, so it's worth it to me to invest in repairing it.
Suggestions/hints/ideas? Thanks!
If it doesnt crank check battery cables/connections/relay etc
Item 2: Pull the top off of the trans & have a look.
Item 3: As you say it sounds like a clutch problem. Take a look at the clutch Master cylinder under the dash, if your lucky it's leaking.
I have no idea about 4 & 5
