I have a 1983 F-250 4x4 300-6, 4 spd...I don't know what rear axle I have, and would like to know for future reference....I pulled the tag so that I could post the tag code....code is as follows:
2 V106C 3.55 10 2 8G21
If somebody could please tell me what I have, I would be most grateful...Thanks...
3.55 gears = 10.25 sterling.
With the ratio in the lower set of numbers, and the 10.2 after the ratio, it's definatley a Ford/Sterling and not a Dana(ratio would be in the top row if it was a dana.) Most likley it's been swapped out at some point.
Looks like 10.25 inch, with 3.55 gears, from 1988 assembled at Van Nuys plant was put in a 1983 F-250. Check to make sure that the "8" in "8G21" is not a "3G21". The "8" would be year.
thanks for the help guys...i kinda figgered it was a sterling, after looking at some pics of various housings....the "8" is an 8, which means that it would be a swapped-in rear end...thanks again...
