Thought I would save some money by changing the oil myself. I really hated the dealer prices and do not trust anyone else.
Went to Wally World and bought the 15 quart container, Motorcraft Filter was $19.83, Rotella 15-40 $6.92.
DO NOT FORGET to open the vent on the pan while draining the oil into it. What a mess. The oil was to hot for me to try to reinstall the drain plug. It was like a bad dream. Many quarts of oil to clean up on the concrete drive right in front of the door. Used a box of wipes and 30lbs of cat liter to get the worst of it up. DON'T forget the vent!!!!!!!!!
You should install a Fumoto oil drain valve. I took my ford to the dealer for the free oil change & had them install my Fumoto valve. They had put in 15 quarts of oil ,I drained 1 1/2 quarts to get the level to just below max. Good thing I had the Fumoto valve installed.I will change my own oil now even though they will use my oil & filter & just charge labour.
I also put the fumoto oil valve on, the 6.0 is the easiest oil change I have ever had, filter is on top, oilvalve on bottom, I use royal purple. One time I left the vent cap off but on the side of the pan, it slid down and blocked the hole, what a mess, same thing happened, had to use a powerwasher to clean it up. I still change my own oil.
I have a 17 quart open oil pan with a spout. Huge opening, no vent plug. It makes life very easy. I then pour the oil carefully into an old 5 gallon gas jug to bring to the parts store.
Gotta laugh jim6090. I did my first oil change a while back same wally world 15.5 qt. container the only problem was that 16.5 qts came out on top of not having vent hole opened. Oil was at operating temp. also i do not have a concrete or tar driveway, back yard on the grass. well grass does not grow in a five foot circle anymore, big time pain thankful the e.p.a. wasn't watching with there satellite. After that fiasco it truely is one of the easiest oil changes to do.
