I have a 99 F250 SD with a 7.3 PS and a 6 speed. It has 110k mikes and was manufactured in April 99. It has gotten almost impossible to get the transmission in to reverse and low when towing. Last week I took it to the garage when it became difficult to shift under normal driving conditions. The mechanic replaced the clutch master cylinder and it helped the "normal" driving but I still have the problem towing our camper. The Clutch does not slip, period. Is it possible that something is going on with the slave cylinder as due to additional heat generated from towing? My mechanic wants to install LuK clutch and single mass flywheel next. Any simular problems????
not sure if you nbs owners have same plastic bushing we do on end of rod that goes into clutch master cylinder but worth a look. i know our obs trucks wear out quite often.
also will probably be wrong but hey whatever. you said normal drivng improved but 1st and reverse shifts didn't. i have read that it may be the syncro's i think 1sr/rev share the same one. also was the slave cylinder leaking? why was it replaced? just process of elimination? maybe try to bleed the air out of it again.

The master cylinder was not leaking. It was sorta odd though, it took a two hand pull to get it in gear during daily driving. MC did correct it but still having trouble towing.
................My clutch went out at 72k. I had my dealer replace the Clutch as well as the S.Cylinder . With that many miles replacing the SL should be a Given . The mechanic should have had enough SENSE to diagnose your ongoing problem and recommend a fix . You can't strongarm the shift linkage without mechanical damage nor should you have TOO . It won't take long before it'll just break off in your hand . sk
