400 temp gauge

Where can I find the temp gauge on the 400 motor itself? I have gauge problems and want to trouble shoot, thought I would start at motor and work my way back to instrument panel. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

On the block, directly below the front of the passenger side head. If you want to install an aftermarket gauge, you have plenty of options. There's the aforementioned port, a port on the water pump, and mine had two on the thermostat housing

Thanks, I will take a look this afternoon. I had looked at all my diagrams and just could not tie down the location.

Found it, I checked resistance with ohm meter and found guage to be good. Pulled out temp switch and found it was cracked around the outside.

Thanks for all the help.

This forum is excellent for us less knowledgeable mechanics.
