I have a 90 that for the past year would never fill the coolant recovery bottle properly. I had checked the radiator cap many times and it always looked good.
It was defective. The rubber was good but underneath the rubber is a brass plate that was cracked in several places that would let air into the system.
I was really fooled by this one. If you have original cap ya might look under the rubber and see if the brass plate is cracked.
oh i know they are cheep i just like the original one because it was so easy to take on and off and when i checked it with a pressure tester it checked ok.
