460 heads

I've got an 86' F350 with a 460 in it. I am going to be replacing the cam and I would like to bump up the compression to 9.0 - 9.5. Does anyone know what the combustion chamber size is of these heads and what years had smaller combustion chambers? I'm having a hard time finding this info. Will heads from a 429 work on the 460? I am assuming the pistons are dished, how big is the dish?

460 heads

you can fit a pair of 429 heads on your 460. this should raise your compression ratio to around 10:1. All 429 and 460's are the same block so they should fit. My 429 i have has 429 heads and has 10:1 compression, with flat top pistons, I think. If you really want to, to get more performance, you can simply buy a pair of Cobra Jet (CJ) heads and bolt them on there. you would have to port\polish your heads, but, you would get a substantial performance increace
