I have finally started to fix up my truck. It is a 02 4.6L 4X4. Right now I have a custom grill and exhaust.(BTW the best sound is with no muffler). Anyways now I am starting to fix up the motor. What would be the first things to do to give more power.
Plus I am fixin to put a Cobra Hood on it with functional air intake. Has anyone done this if so how hard is it to hook up the functional hoods?
also I am young so I like to show of my truck anyways the tires would not spin when I tryed to power brake it with stock tires. But now I have 33-inch Negotiators and they will spin all day long!
How hard are the diablosport tuners to deal with. Plus the supercharger is a option but the price is a litte much for what I have rigth now. Plus who makes a 4.6L supercharger?
The tuner is easy. It takes less than 5 minutes to program the truck. I have one for mine and it really helped throttle responce and power. I also like it because it can firm up the shifts and when you change gears or tire size, you can correct the speedo.
as for superchargers. kenne bell stopped making one for the 4.6 f150. vortec, paxton and the one i want procharger. ford racing has a roots type blower for around 2100.00 but you have to buy everything else.
The stock internals on the 2V 4.6L will take a supercharger or bolt ons but I'd stay away from a supercharger and a cam upgrade because your going to be looking for trouble that way. You could do the VT Engines stroker kit with much better internals and a tune with either Diablo or SCT. That or find a set of 4V Cobra heads from the non supercharged Cobra to swap on along with the timing set for the 4V setup and the motor will breath better to go along with any other upgrade.
