Hello.I just listed a 78 Highboy on Ebay and could use some help.I don't really have enough experience on the Dana axles to tell the difference between the 60 or 70 series.I looked for tags on the axles but they are gone, there is a tag on the door jamb from some aftermarket company that states that this truck has been modified and conforms to all safety requirements and goes on to list the vehicle weight rating so I don't know if that has anything to do with the axle tags being missing or what.I have included the pictures of the axles if somebody could look at the photos and let me know what axles it has I will then be able add that info to the listings and answer all the questions I have been getting. The item number on Ebay is 7983119323.Thanks
Just a couple things though. I'm pretty sure it's not a highboy. After 1977.5 were no longer highboy. I'm also pretty sure they were all divorced transfer cases. Is the transfer case mounted to the tail of the tranny or is there a short drive shaft between the tranny and transfer case. Someone else can say for sure but I don't know if the 400 was an option on real highboys. I could be wrong on the motor though. I do agree it looks like a d60 rear and d44 front. I thought maybe stock highboys sat a litle higher then that also. I know I had 33's on mine when I got it but it was bigger looking then that. I'm not bashing you I just want to make sure you are aware of what you are advertising so you can pass it along to any potential buyers.
Hello.According to a search of this site the Highboy was continued until the switch to the new body style in 1980 meaning the last Highboy was produced in 79,but that does not matter anyway, the VIN tag states the date of manufacture at 2/77.In addition The step in height of this truck at the bottom of the door jamb is 24 3/4 inchs,The exact same as the 76 Highboy my coworker has in his lawn service. In addition I had a problem with Ebay, they canceled my auction for the truck,3 times!! They claim that since it was listed in the parts car section that the engine must not be in running condition.I have relisted 2 more times,One in the passenger vehicle section and again in the parts sectionbut with a different discription,I am waiting to see if they end my listing again. Thanks for the info.
