I just got my 1st check engine light 2 months after replacing my manifold with an Edelbrock Performer. Its a 96 351 timed with spout removed @ 14deg. It drives great no pinging noticed even under load. Is this normal or am I timed up to much ? Has anybody else had this happen with this particular manny swap ? Thanx
sorry i can't answer your question, but i was wondering other than the error code, how has the performer intake manifold worked for you? Did you get more power? Did your your gas mileage get a lot worse? I'm thinking of getting one for my 93
the power increase is good I dont think this manifold really comes to life without better flowing heads and a matching cam. I have the 56mm TB + manny and it really boosted the midrange over stock. Right now my gas mileage is actually alot better, but I'm assuming it has to do with my lean condition codes.
Kem not quite sure what you mean ? I have a MAF 351 with the proper 5.8 EFI manifold from Edelbrock. I just pulled my 4000lb boat up a hugh *** hill yesterday no pings or knock that I could hear, doesnt mean its not I just couldnt tell. I'll kick the timing back down a tad and see if my code resolves itself.
how many o2 sensors do you have. one could be giving a bad reading ? whats your fuel pressure at the rail? might pull plugs on those 2 cylinders and see how they look
I thought bank 1 referred to the passanger side 4 cylinders and bank 2 to the driver side 4. Is bank 1 vs 2 referring to just cylinder 1 & 2 only ? My plugs look grand. I have not checked fuel pressure yet. Is that done from the spout on the fuel rail ?
ok yes that is revering to each bank or side of motor. check fuel pressure at the rail and i would imagine if the plugs look good then both or all 3 of your o2 sensors are bad giving that reading. i would get them replaced otherwise you could burn up a piston
