my 78 f150 (400m) isnt getting any spark. it will start then stop right away (wont stay running) and then i can crank it and it will just crank, but wont start. i pulled the first spark plug wire to test for spark and it started right up and ran, but eventually i got no spark after starting it a few times. obviously its ignition related but were do i start. its got a msd ignition system on it (dist., coil, module), so any help would be appreciated.
My bet is on the ignition box. But, there are more guys in here with far more experience than myself that would probably have a better idea of what to check From experience, my stock ignition in my '79 F-350 4x4 would work intermittently. I would be driving down the road and it would just shut off. It was the ignition box. Just be glad you are getting this in your driveway and not out in the middle of nowhere If I were you, (since you are running MSD stuff), I would visit MSD's website and post something in their Tech forum. Their tech's should give you some testing advice and point you in the right direction.
