power steering pump
I plan on doing a power steering pump exchange on my 98 ranger 2.5 litre automatic trans. I am going to rent the puller from a parts store and I was wondering if this is going to be a simple procedure. It looks simple and shouldn't take too long. So if you know of any tips to make this job easier I would really appreciate them, also what would be the best way to flush the fluid in the system because the old fluid has metallic particles in it from the old pump and I don't want it to ruin the new pump. Thanks in advance.

The last thing that I would use the old pump for is to flush the system.
Just remove the return hose & open the inertia switch to disable the fuel pump and flush it at cranking speed.
Dont flush it with the engine running as ALL the fluid will be pumped out in about one second.
Edit, on second thought when you flush it it wont be running thru the pump so just leave the return hose off of the new pump & then flush it.
