I just traded my 2001 F150 super crew King Ranch for a sweet 2003 Expedition Eddie Bauer. Only question I have is about the AC. I don't remember a clicking sound when the AC was on above the right side passenger tire in my F150 but this Expedition clicks a bit when it is on. Is that normal? It blows ice cold and I cannot hear it inside.
Yes I believe what you're talking about is normal. My '03 with the 5.4 makes a ticking noise from under the hood when the a/c compressor is engaged. Every '03+ Expedition that I have seen and heard makes the same noise including my mother's '04 Navigator. I don't think there is a problem at all; just kind of annoying at times.
The air conditioning compressor uses an electrically-activated clutch that engages and disengages the compressor from the engine's fan belt drive. Without the clutch, the A/C compressor would be driven whenever the engine was running, making for particularly brisk February drives. The click you hear is from a relay that controls the clutch activation/deactivation. Quite normal.
