Hello? is this thing on?

I've got a '95 with the 4.9L. I keep hearing people saying that since it has a split manifold, a set of headers wouldn't be of any benefit. I find that hard to believe. If you were replacing the manifolds with split headers, wouldn't that be a drastic improvement over the stock? I thought that was the whole idea behind headers in the first place.

A header on a single cylinder engine works wonders. You should see a benifit on the six. The fact that it comes with a split manifold doesn't mean the exhast flow cannot be improved on. The split header probably is an attempt at keeping the (otherwise long) cast manifold from cracking and to get a better seal (less warping)against the head. Not to mention Ford sticks two sensors (one in each manifold) that cost $70 EACH to replace.
