4 Inch electrical cutout I believe. You mention exhaust and a 4 inch cutout. I, for one, don't know what you are asking just like Tim.

I think what he's asking is if they those things that they make for street cars to become drag cars on race day- A switch inside the car to open up your pipes right after the headers, or i guess y pipe for turboes that bypasses the rest of the exhaust system. I don't know what sizes they come in or anything, but i think thats what he's talking about.

You probably won't get a good response until we know exactly what you're asking for.

Are you talking about a dump valve? A Jake Brake? An electrical cut out? You'll need to be more descriptive to us rookies.

The rest of use are still trying to figure out if your exhaust issues have been resolved at the dealer. Last note was that they had hacked it all up. Then your dad had it at a dealership service department. You're gonna have to esplain... Now you want to add something else to the exhaust system? It's a pretty basic design. Dump waste gasses from the turbo through a catalytic converter through more tube through a muffler and out a tail pipe.

OK, some of that has been removed?

The amazing thing here is that he asked if anyone knows where he can get one and he gets jumped on for not explaining better what seemed pretty clear to me. Why not just either not answer or tell him where he can get them? It is of no help to him to criticize his question. Tell him where he can get a setup that electrically opens his exhaust or sit back and wait with the rest of us hoping someone knows of a source?

Should I even respond to that? My response to him was to be more descriptive in what he was looking for because three of us somewhat mechanically inclined people don't know what he's asking for. That's not jumping on him. That's teaching.

If you're the expert, then please elighten us all. I'm willing to learn along with him.

Moderators: I will not respond to this thread any more. I will read if it is responded to.

I know exactly what you are talking about and I have seen them before...now I have to remember where I saw it; I have a link to one saved in my bookmarks on my laptop but I don't remember where.

I would like to say it was on one of the "major diesel parts suppliers" websites, but I cannot remember. Look around, I know they make them.

Tim, you remember the old header flanges you could unbolt to open the exhaust? Now, think back to the old cable operated one. The one in question here works just like a gigantic cable operated racing exhaust dump valves, except its operated by a large electric solenoid and a cab switch rather than a cable.

It won't really yeild any more power than what an aftermarket exhaust would; essentially all it is is a way to install a straight pipe system and a muffler system and use either one at your own discretion, switching back and forth. It simply changed the exhaust flow from one pathway to another.

In other words, you could have a normal 4 inch system with a muffler, install this device in front of the muffler, and be able select between running the exhaust through the muffler, or around it to a straight pipe...at the push of a button.

Edit- here is the site where I initially saw it a while back
