Recently bought a used '90 F150 Supercab. Good truck overall, but have noticed the red paint job (assume its factory) flaking and chipping in small bits all over the truck. Anyone know if Ford had some bad paint years back then? Will repaint it eventually, but would like to know if I should avoid a certain paint used on this truck's original coat, of what is best brand of auto & truck paint to use on a repaint? Thanks for any feedback.

I have an 87 f-150 with the same problem. It was originally painted in "dark canyon red". I do know that several years later Ford recalled for repaint but only certain colors ,not mine. My brother got a freebie with a tan color. Mine has continued to peel over the years and maybe someday I will repaint but I am fairly rough on it and it sits out unprotected. Good luck.

Yes, I think that the red was a new color that year and usually the first year is a bad one. My dad used to have a 92 chevy with the Teal Green color. It faded,chipped,and eventually started pealing. According to the Window Sticker, the color was an option and it cost and extra $200. So much for that!!!!
