Hello Tim,
Kinda new to all this, looking at your stoker kit. Wouldn't the balancing need to come after assy into the block?
Have you got the test motor built yet and what type of numbers are you coming up with.
My motor is just sitting waiting to have answers before I start the rebuilt, or have it done.

Thanks Lee

The balancing is done before assembly.

We are currently building an engine to dyno. It is a customer, and it will have CHI heads on it. We have had a number of people ask about getting a short block. We install the 4-bolt steel caps on the 400 block.

Tim do you believe that the 4 bolt main is needed?

yes and no.
I have seen in the racing area when the strokers are used, if there are heavy tacky tracks, the stock caps break in 12-15 races.

So if it is just a street driven daily type of vehicle, probably no.

But heavy towing, mud bogging, rock climbing. If you can put your foot into it and not break the tire loose, than yes.

If everything is "hooked" up, that's when you'll find your "WEAKEST LINK".

In some cases where a customer spends the money on heads and the stroker kit, than an extra $650 or so for a close to bullet proof bottom end is cheap insurance.

Most anybody who buys this kit, will not be gently with it.

Hello Tim.
The stroker kit is brilliant! My engine rebuilder (George) is very interested in a 434 stroker drag car. He is sold on the 408 motor he built for me using your 10.5:1 CR pistons-so am I. Even with the long duration cam it has incredible torque! A dedicated propane fuel car.
What do you think would be the maximum revs you could take a 434 stroker to using 4 bolt main caps, roller rockers etc? George would not machine the pistons and would most likely use aussie heads and racing fuel.
Keep up the great work Tim.
Cheers
Craig

Well Superflow had a rule of thumb, 27,000 inchs per min. and for quick spurts like drag racing, add 1000 rpm. So a 4.250" stroke would bring you to
6352 RPM with quality parts. Drag racing 7352 RPM.

Thanks for the reply Tim.
That RPM range would suit George. I will let him know.
