Resale of the 2004 Titan vs F150 Lariat

Just did a 1 for 1 comparison of the 2004 F150 Lariat SCREW 5.4 2wd vs the Titan LE Supercrew 2wd, configured like for like options both in excellent shape. Used private party sale. To my surprise the F150 came in at $26,920 and the Titan came in at $24,810. That's a better resale after 1 year in favor of the Ford of $2,110. Of course that is in my zip code! Be interesting to see if others in their zip codes get the same results. Used kelley blue book.

So much for the Titan owners claiming better resale.

Ok, that got my curiosity, so I went out and compared my '04 FX4 SuperCrew against the Titan LE Crew Cab short bed. Wasn't really sure if that's the right model or not, but I think that's their top-of-the-line model vs. the FX4 being not-quite-top-of-the-line or more like upper-middle. Anyway, mine came in at $28,615 vs. Titan at $27,520. That's $1100 I'll take to the bank.

So much for the Titan owners claiming better resale.
Yeah, that's Titan owners' inferiority complex showing through!

resale value? WTF is that? I have never resold a truck. When I do 'resell' them, its to a junkyard in pieces once I keep whats good.

Just think, when you do sell it off to the junk yard, you'll get more than if you'd had the Titan!

You couldn't give me a titan. Their body lines are hideous, and their A pillar is gigantic. A buddy at work has one, same color as my grey FX4, very similar options, he gets 10 mpg all the time, so mines got him there with a whopping 12. The only thing I wish the ford would have is the express up/down windows. They are the best thing in the titan. Other than that, I dont like it one bit.

Then add it. I put express up and down on both my windows for five bucks. It did take a few minutes, but I spent more time putting on my ventvisors...

express up down windows? what are those? and while on the topic of windows has anyone put they're rear window to power up down like the old broncos had? i had 2 broncos(88,91) and loved having the rear window down. The window in my 05 is solid without the slider? maybe add that to the list of future mods.

They offer the power opening rear window, or there are several brands of aftermarket window that you can put in. My reg cab has a manual rear window, but it's in easy reach. On Scab or Screw I would want power on the rear window.

Express up and express down on my power windows is what I was refering to. If you have power windows, your driver window has express down.

The titan does have express up/ down (one touch) on both front windows. I think that it is a nice feature. I could probably get express down on all windows, but how would I get express up when the factory doesn't offer a switch to do it?

I hate the interiors of the Titans. Ford blows them away there. They may catch Ford someday, but they got a long way to go.

How did you do this, is it a Ford kit t do it or did you get it somewhere else?
I love my windows down all the time andI wish I had the express down on the passenger side of my regular cab.
When you did it does it do it only from the drivers side or both sides?

I used ford modules. I have posted on that in this forum and the other major F-150 giving all the details etc.
You can buy these modules from wrecking yards for about a 1.00-1.50 each, and wiring them in is easy. One touch for down or up. If you only want express down, you would need one module for each window. I use four modules for two windows.
Most trucks already have express down on the drivers window, and a lot of people just add one module (inside the drivers door) to drop the passenger window express.
This is not the kind of module that you use to roll your windows up when your hit your alarm switch, or roll them down when you pop the door. Those cost about 15.00-25.00 each.
These only work with the existing switch.
They sell them new for some high price, and they sell them on e-bay for about 10.00 bucks each.
Getting them from a pick-a-part is a hours entertainment.
Chris
