I have a 1989 F150 witth dual tanks. I would like to have dual exausts installed. Do they both have to exit out the right side? If so, do you still get that sweet v8 rumble?
they can bring them both out the rear, but they have to make the left pipe longer, and depending on your muffler, it may sound a little off balance cause of the extra distance. you may have to remove your spare tire carrier also. I have a 90 f-150 with duel tanks I'm getting dueled out this weekend.
Also, I know a guy with both his pipes on the same side, and is sounds pretty good. I like em in back though so whenever somebody is riding my bumper, i can put it in neutral and deafen them!
I put duals on mine and I have dual tanks. The exhaust guy crossed the left pipe over underneath the tail piece of the transmission, then added dual cats (one to each pipe, 12" long cat from DynoMax), then into a dual in - dual out Flowmaster 50 series, then the left side crossed back over to exit out the back. I had already removed my tire carrier, cause I didn't like it underneath the frame anyway. And, it sounds AWESOME!!!!
I have an '84 F150 with a 4 speed manual tranny, and 300 inline 6. I heard a Ranger with a 4.0L and FlowMaster 50 Series muffler. How my engine sound with this setup? The Ranger I heard sounded like a V8, even though it was only a 6. Thats the sound im looking for. Does anyone have any recommendation on how to get this sound with out swapping in an 8? Tahnks
The best way is dump the 300 and put in a 351W, but, if you want sound, then put headers on your 6. I believe they split to allow you to run true duals all the way back and it'll give you an awesome sound and even more torque for your 300 (as if you need more torque!).
Yeah, that's right, Clifford Performance. Don't know the cost, but check JC Whitney, Summit or do a search on the net. Check some of the archived messages on this board, I know there are some that have purchased these headers.
