When I apply the brakes on my 1994 E 250 I6 the brake pedal pulses under my foot. The van stops but slow going. Any Ideas ????
What is commonly thought to be warped rotors isn't actually, but it's close enough for discussion. Pull the rotors, have them turned and install a GOOD brand of brake pad. But the very most important thing is to bed the brakes in properly. Using the 30/30/30 method is a good place to start. 30 stops from 30 mph with 30 seconds in between each stop for cooling. The #1 thing is to not come to a complete stop with hot pads on hot rotors while bedding in. Your rotors aren't warped, they have 'material transfer' which is brake pad lining built up on the rotors. So get up to 30 and step hard on the pedal til you're almost stopped, then roll out for 30 seconds with no brakes on. Repeat 29 more times then allow completely. Your brakes will last longer, stop better and you'll not have a much brake shimmy.
