stalling problem

hi all

i have a 1990 f250 4x4 302...when the gas guage is running at a 1/4 full im having problems with the engine just stalling. I check the gas and theres lots left in the tank . the truck restarts ok and then does it again down the road. it only happens when my tank is running near or less than 1/4 full though...

might be some crap in the tank??

any thoughts

Had a similar problem a few years ago with a car. Turned out to be a break in the fuel pickup pipe a few inches up from the bottom of the tank. Repaired it and no problems.
