you are wrong on that i have benn into truck from 73-79 f100-f350 since i was about 10yrs old i'm now 16yrs i have rebuilt them and restorted unrestortable trucks so i think that you are wrong and it not just me i have friends at school who do the same with the f150 73-79. i think it the the older people in late 70's early 80's they just want to get ride of them and give them tothe yard so that is where the problem is.

Actually he is right.
He didn't say everyone .
The term was A Lot of the younger generations ......
He didn't mention you & your truck (which you took personally).
You are among friends here
I happen to agree with him.
The throw-away society has caused this.
Auto manufacturer's have caused this (they don't want things to last 40,30,20,10 years anymore.
They want to sell everyone a vehicle every 3-5 years.
That's what they are in business for
All one has to do is visit a HS parking lot and see what he is saying.
I guarantee there are more Imports than Classic vehicles of any kind driven by teenagers
Hey ! We're proud you're into old trucks
Maybe read this about my nephew.

The thing I hate about scrapping trucks is in the rust free areas is they are usually in good shape body wise from what I hear on here. in my area, northeastern maryland, most of the old trucks I see in the yard are rusted out bad and very worn out, thats allright. I have to search all over for decent rust free parts and usually get them from out of state. some states are crushing trucks that I would pay a grand for. really makes me sad. ship those rust free trucks over my way, I would pay good for them, and could turn around and sell them up here to people restoring them. People my way are always wanting good parts.

Mil1ion,
Thank you for clarifying that.
High school parking lots is most of where I drew my conclusion.
I am 33 years old. Whic is pretty young to a lot of guys here. When I was in high school there was one guy that drove a new car.....Every other car on the school parking lot was at least 10 to 15 years old. A lot of the guys were in to Chevy pick ups. There were 3 guys at one time that had 65 models. We considered our Ag teacher to have a new truck....and his was already about 10 years old.
I don't know about where ya'll are, but I live 2 miles from a high school. I have not seen a 10 year old vehicle there in several years.
Pick ups, I'm thrilled that your in to old trucks....I truly wish there were more of you. However if you look around your school, your going to find out that your the exception and not the rule. I have seen parents get upset about a youngster wanting an old truck. Personally....if he or she is detailing his engine or interior on the week end, then they are not out being dope heads. I truly wish there were more kids like you.

doc I know exactally what your saying. I'm the only person in my high school to own a old truck. Everyone else owns a new vehical from the years 1999(the absolute oldest 1 or 2)- 2005. Their parents vehicals aren't that new, but then again their parents get new rids every 3 years or so.
I wouldn't give up my truck for anything!

One major flaw with owning these old trucks is the gas mileage I'm going to spend the money to build my '78 F250, and not be able to afford driving it. Gas is projected at $3 a gallon by the end of the year, but that doesn't mean I'm getting rid of it. Just means it will be nice to look at for the most part
