the quesion is what size brake lines should i run on the old 51? Im running a power booster and dual reservoir master cylinder, and im running 4 wheel drum. I hope to order my checkvalves and proportoning valve tomarow so if anybody has any ideas it would be great.
3/16" is pretty much the size you want. I recently did my whole brake system and used this size brake line. If your running drums front and rear, you really don't need a proportioning valve. The proportioning valves is used when the front has disc brakes and the valve goes into the line to the rear drums. It allows you to adjust the pressure from front to rear. The check valves or commonly known as residual valves are used if the Master cylinder is mounted on the frame. If you mounted the Master cylinder on the firewall, you probably don't need them. With disc brakes you use a 2lb. and the drums on the rear use a 10lb. residual valve in the line. In doing the lines I used a welding wire and shaped the lines to the truck and bent the lines according to the wire. Get yourself a good tubing bender and you must have a double flairing tool. Don't use a single flairing tool. Otherwise, have fun.
thanks for the info guys. the reason im going with a proportioning valve is because later on im going to convert the front to disc, I just dont have the money at this time, and im on a time limit of 6 weeks to put the truck back together for my wedding.
