Runs Good Cold But
Looked All Over The Forum,couldn't Find The Same Problem.got An '88 Ranger,2.9 Efi, Auto,165.600 Miles On It,just Bought It O6o7o5.
It Runs Good And Will Go Thru The Gears Just Fine Until The Engine Gets Warmed Up,after That It Will Tach Out At 2500,wont Go Any Higher ,and I Have To Let Off The Gas To Get It To Shift In All Gears.
I've Had An External Diagnosis Of Tranny At Aamco,the Guy Says It's Fine.oil&filter Change,fuel&air Filter,plugs &wires,dist Cap&roter,belts,timing Set. Mech Pulled Codes And Mach Read "no Codes Present"
I Also Have A Question As To What The Cap On The Drivers Side Valve Cover Is,kinda Looks Like Oil Cap, It's Loose ,should It Be?doesn't Tighten Up When Turned.
Any And All Help Appreciated

I would pull the codes myself, see the tech info thread at the top of this forum, pulling eec-iv codes.
The cap is the fresh air side of the PCV system, it should have a hose running to the throttle body.
