engine /trans mounts

hey guys, i am at the point of installing the 302 and c4 combo. the truck has a volare type front end. here is the question . are the engine / tranny mount kits that mid fiftys have the way for me to go or is there another company that offers a better way ? the reason that i am asking is i think i read someone on this forum did not like the kits from these guys ( not well made or a pain too install) i can not remember. i am trying not too fab my own due too time ( i work alot of o/t so the only time i have for the truck is about 5-6hrs on the weekends) . thanks

I can't say if the mid 50's mount is any good, but if it is like the No-Limit puzzle mount save your money. I used half of the mount (the right one), trashed the left, and made my own left mount. I don't know that anybody has a great mount kit that works well with the Volare suspensions.

for replying . thank you for the info . i did order a trans mount crossmember . after looking at the no limit engine mounts verses the mid fifty mounts ( i have both books) they look to be about the same . so i am taking your advice and have decided to make my own .

go to the articles and look under suspension for the "notes on the volare install"

you can see what I did for the left and right mounts... might give you some ideas. The left one is a bear with that steering box in the way...

later

Been there done that. I actually ordered the puzzle just to see it. Sent it back. If you want quick, simple and lo-cost, use the Trans X-member from No-Limit with the Volare offset, it is a stock item and nice for the price. Then use the eng mounts from Bob's F-100's for Volare. These are pre-welded, just trim to fit variance ( 1/4" in mine). You can't get any better or faster making your own unless you have good welding skills and lot of time and don't mind the mess. Very happy with my set up. Have pics for email of raw install that are not in gallery. Good luck.
