I have a 2001 Expedition and the other day (not raining - so it is not the wet fusebox problem some people seem to be having) I started it and could not get it out of Park. I had someone check my brake lights (which were working) and I bypassed it by turning the ignition a little and then starting it in Neutral - just so I could get it home.
I have pulled and checked every single fuse and have also used a new relay to check to see if one of the relays went out as well. I also - just as a safety measure - replaced the brake light stop switch. The brake lights still work, but the problem persists.
ALSO, since this has happened, I have no interior lights, running board lights, power windows or windshield wipers (front and back). I am not sure if this is a feature built in by Ford saying "Don't run the car this way unless you absolutely have to" or if it is a secondary problem or if it is a symptom of the primary problem.
I have reviewed this site and others and have not found a solution past replacing the brake light stop switch.
I had the same lights and wipers problem. It turned out to be a 15 amp fuse which is 1st from the top of the fusebox* in the middle row. *(under dash fuse box)
