Rear End Question

I have alot of bright ideas but need some advice on if it is possible to do.
I have a busted up truck with a single axle Rear end, If I go and buy a dually, could I tear the box and rear end off and replace with the single axle. 93 to a 93dually.

Both trucks are std 8' boxes

The true strength lies in the frame.

In your signature you list a F150, and an F250. If your thinking of turning your F150 into a dually.....I don't think the frame is strong, or heavy enough.

If on the other hand you have a dually parts truck.....and are wanting to convert your F250.....that can be done. But not your F150....not enough truck....sorry.
I performed this operation on a 83 F250 once. It has, and is being done.
For the added capacity...move the springs over too. Pay attention to the drive line.....it may be a different length due to the bigger differential.
Kwik is right.....make sure the frame is in good shape, and of course the same width.

If you have a 4WD, be sure that the front and rear axle ratios are the same when you are all through. Big no-no to not have them the same, numerically. If this is a 2WD, disregard this.

If you're trying to install a normal rearend onto a truck that was a dually, you're probably O.K. as long as all the mounting hardware lines up and you're installing a 3/4 ton rearend. If you're going the other way, then I'd think twice about it. Be advised about the wheel bolt patterns, front matching the rear.

I believe his front/rear wheel lug bolt patterns will be the same after he removes the spacer/adapter from the dually's front hubs.

Thanks for all the replys

I have a busted f250 , rear axle and springs are good, drive line is OK, so you guys are telling me it is possible to take a F350 dually swap out the box and rear diff. with springs and misc. hardware..

Now the next item up for question was bolt pattern on the front axle on a dually?
same as the f250?

Frnt and rear axle ratio, I have 3:55 on the single axle, what can I get away with on the frt and where can I look up on the dually to find out what I may have. or is it the same as the rear.

Again thanks

Yes....converting a F250 to a F350 is doable.
I would think bolt pattern would be ok, but I'm not 100%....someone else will have to cover that question.
Your ratios for the front and rear should be stamped on a tag that is attached to both covers. To stay out of trouble, I'd suggest keeping the same ratio at both ends.

If I am reading your post correctly you want to take a F350 dually and basically mke it a single rear wheel truck using a F250 rear and a SRW bed. If I have all that correct then yes you should have no problems as long as the F350 originally had a bed on it. If not then it might be a straight frame truck which would make mounting the bed difficult and it may also have different spring pad spacing on the rear axle. If the F350 originally had a bed then it will be no problem. Both trucks use the same 8X6.5 lug pattern.
