Batt or alt problem

Batt or alt problem

When i give the truck gas the light dim and the red batt light on the dash comes on but the voltage stays the same.

2000 f-150 4.6l

The belt might be slipping. Take it down to autozone and get the charging system checked, it's FREE

Sounds like the alternator if it comes on when you jam the gas. Eventually
the batt light will stay on all the time. Try replacing the carbon pack first, it's $20 versus $120+.
Take off the alternator and then the carbon pack, which you'll locate on the alternator by 2 simple screws. The 2 carbon teeth are probably worn down.

Mine did the same thing and it turned out to be the alternator, I just wish I had known about the carbon pack first, I spent the $120.

Checked carbon pack today, plain bad alternator.
