for a few weeks, it will randomly sputter out when i try to start it, sometimes i can save it by hitting the gas. ran injector cleaner through the system a few times, changed fuel filter, did not fix problem. it quit for good, so i changed the feul pump, ran fine for past 2 days, sputtering out again. with the feul line disconnected from the filter, the pump usually sends gas spitting out, nothing coming out of the line now.
i have not changed the relay, i wouldnt think an electrical problem would come in and out like this randomly. only other things i can think to do are replace the feul pressure regulator, or physically clean the injectors. any help/suggestions would be appreciated.
also, it says in the instructions that accompanied the fuel pump: " a loss of oil pressure or a defective oil pressure switch will cause the fuel pump to be inoperative". how do i check for this?

one more thing: i dont know if its related to this problem or not, might have something to do with oil pressure, but it seems that my engine runs hotter than normal. regardless of the temperature outside, im always at the halfway mark on the guage. my dad has a ranger with the same engine, and i previously owned a ranger, both normally run with the guage showing about a quarter of the way up, just after the cold mark. i find it strage that mine always reads halfway(after the engine heats up of course). i was thinking oil pressure might affect this, and in turn cause my feul problem.
With no fuel pressure you need to start by determining if you have an electrical problem. Do you have power at the inertia switch when you turn the key to on? If you don't check at the FP relay, if not check for power from the PCM relay to the FP relay, the PCM relay activates the FP relay.
