Question Predator question

I bought the predator back in Feb but did not purchase the serial conection and power source for udates. Due to various factors and a hesitation to fool with the computer on the truck I never used the tuner. I recently changed the exhaust and I am now ready to install the tune. My question is, do I need to get the updates for the predator or should I load the truck with the tuner as it was when I bought it. My truck was made in 8/04 and has not been reflashed by the dealer since I bought it.

You'll know when you try to load! ... I had to update the Predator ... probably due to my then recent PCM update. Give it a shot and see!

The PC kit is generic stuff - AC adaptor has 12vdc out ... so you could rig up your own serial cable and power source to connect to your PC for an update if needed. If your serial cable doesn't let your PC see the tuner ... just put a null modem adaptor inline or swap to a null modem cable as I'm not sure what one it uses?

I've got boxes of transformers & cables tucked away ... should really get rid of it all someday!

Thanks 64f10, I didn't get a real clear answer when I e-mailed the predator people.

DEFINATELY UPDATE IT BEFORE USING IT..

I had issues with mine....left my truck dead in the water...wouldn't install the 87 tune then refused to install the factory tune...truck was D E A D.

Updated the unit and it works perfectly now.
