MAP Sensor,chapter 2
Thanks for the post Phillip G. Got up early this morning, pulled the throttle body off and went after the throttle body and intake manifold bores with carb cleaner and brushes. Got a LOT of gunk out of there, but now she runs better, quieter and has no hesitation when I get on the accelerator. Smoked alot on the test drive after, though, until I got it blown out good. Also checked my MAP sensor again. Got 5V on VREF wire, and oddly, 2V on the BP and ground terminal. Didnt get anything on the BP and ground before I cleaned the bores??!! Applied a little human vacuum after checking the vac hose and ports and still have 2V, instead of variance of 5V down to 1V as manual says. That explains the 22 error code on the EEC self test (Map sensor out of normal range). Guess I'll do a MAP sensor this week sometime. If your engine is doggy at low speeds/idle, go after the bores and clean 'em out good. Doesn't take long and it's worth it!!
