got the predator and the "kwik filter" hooked up...! WOW... WOW... WOW... WOW...!
i didn't bother with the tow tune... only going to use it towing... went to the 60 hp tune... FANTASTIC...!
went to the 85 hp tune... OH MY GOD...! couldn't hardly keep my mule on the ground... problem was the boost and the egts... boost would go right to 24... i was worried about getting a defuel... and the egts would SHOOT UP...! don't try this one without gauges...! not on your life...! gotta get exhaust and the "boost fooler"... and i'm gonna try it again now that i have the "kwik filter" on... once i get exhaust i may use this as a dailly driver.... hummmm....
to scared of hurting something to try the 100 hp without exhaust....! call me a wimp.. i don't like to abuse my mule...
went back to the 60 hp and modified the shift firmness to "hard".... and put the "kwik filter" on... UNBELIEVABLE...! this truck shifts awesome now...! i don't think i need the sonnax now... the predator book says you have to use the "stock" shift firmness setting if you have a shift kit... so... i think i'll just go with this "hard" setting for now... i really like it...! anybody have any comments on this..?
the "kwik filter"... UNREAL...! how can anybody believe that the stock box doesn't restrict the airflow...! i can CLEARLY hear EVERYTHING the turbo is doing... including that WHOOOOSH you get when you let up on the accelorator..! the filter was a tight fit... that's what you want, and i trimmed a little tab off the intake hose so i could get it further onto the filter... no pipe, no adapter, no bigger hose clamp needed... the hose on my 02 went right onto the filter... i took the hose off the truck to get more leverage on it to get it onto the filter... no problems... just a little struggle... the stock box comes right out... 4 bolts hold it in place... you don't have to take any battery components out...
sorry for the long post... but... i have to say... this is these are the best mods you can do for the money... 3 gauges & pillar post mount= $340.... Predator Tuner= $400... Kwik Filter, (including next day shipping because i wanted it NOW..!), = $57.... Total invested in mods, (so far, i'm not quite done..!), = $797... having a 10k lb. diesel truck that will SMOKE most sports cars from a standing start AND pull a 10k lb. 5ver with ease..... PRICELESS...!
FYI... Banks was gonna charge me over $800 just for exhaust...!
I know it's been asked before, but does the filter mod give you any warranty problems? I would hate to do it and then have a blown turbo and have the dealer say that I voided the warranty.

Shouldn't be a problem, just keep your old air box and put it back on it you take it to the dealer.
i didn't get the chip... i got the tuner... i finally tried 100hp/200ftlbs torque setting...! oh geez... sorry... i can't use it... barely get to half throtle taking off and the tires go up in smoke...! it's hard to see the tire smoke though because of all the smoke coming out the pipe..! 85hp with the "hard" tranny setting is good... more power than i'll use, but lots of giddyup when you are already doin' 35 or so... lean into it and in a few seconds you'll be doing seventy and climbing fast..! not so much smoke though... i may leave it on the 60 setting... plenty of power... plenty of accelleration... almost no smoke... hard shift is very firm but overall this is a very drivable setting... feels like this truck should feel, and you can still tow 8k, i probably won't be able to tow the 5ver with this one, maybe when i get exhaust.... lots of turbo "air" sounds with the 6637 filter... i like em, my wife may not.. oh well, that just means she won't ask to borrow the truck...! no rattle that i could hear after the "whoooosh".... maybe you've got something loose... i would look into that... it may be something simple... it may not...
you know... i have watched the egts real close, and i have the kwik filter, but still running stock exhaust... i haven't seen anything outrageous on the pyro... but, i haven't towed anything big yet... the thing is... your egts go up pretty quick, but you get up to speed so fast, you can't stay on the throttle long.... take the 100hp setting... half throtle, and my tires are cooking...! impressive, but not of much use to me... i need to put power on the road, not up in smoke... plus.. the tranny seemed to hunt for the next gear going into 2nd or 3rd, i'm not sure which one it was because so much was happening so fast...! so... the 85hp... really quick, and i mean really quick... i could run the throtle up to the point where i felt my tires starting to slip... but... as i said... i think the 60 hp tune with the hard shift is the best all around setting for basic dailly driving... only one problem... the idle on the truck is a little rough on that setting... i wonder if it will smooth out... one other thing... i don't have a boost fooler on yet... so i haven't really tromped on the accelerator... just stepped on it hard enough to get up close to 25 lbs boost... i haven't run full throtle on ANY of the settings.. but you really don't need to... you can tromp on it a little and you'll get a real good idea what that tune is doing for your mule..!
as for spending money on this tuner... i would say go for it if you think you would like it... i went with the tuner because i don't think i need a "flip" chip... i pretty much know what tune i want in my truck to suit my application... plus you get the ability to read and clear codes... and some real time data reading... haven't gotten to that yet, but i will...!
again... sorry for the long posts... but lots of impessions to relay to you guys... overall... this is the power our mules were designed to make...!
I loved my Predator too. I have tried the 60hp and 100hp tunes so far. I have the same mods as you on an 01 ext cab except I have a 5" exhaust. My truck did the same thing on the 2-3 shift. Felt like it was deciding whether to go into gear or not. Almost felt like a studder.
I liked the 60hp tune best though for daily driving.
How many settings can you set up?
How do you switch between them?
Is there a lag on the tuner or does it go right in?
Do you keep it hooked up, just sitting on the seat or somewhere?

Man, I definitely want the predator now..! I'm sure your egts wont climb as fast when you get a 4" or 5"too..
that's what i'm hoping...!
Johnny8, how long does it take for the computer to load another setting??...you never know when you're going to need the 100hp setting..
it takes about 4-5 mins to get through it... but you can run the 100hp setting as your dailly driver if you want to... but i think the 85hp setting gets more power to the ground... your truck may be different...!
Hahaha, start saving for that BTS transmission too!
i'm sure that i'm gonna need a tranny sometime in the not too distant future, but i'll need that anyway because of towing the 5ver, when i need to do it, i'll do it.. then if i get the right one i won't have to do it again... what is the BTS tranny and where do i get it...?
