Where to start. Got underneath the truck to see how hard it'd be to run dual exhaust when I saw that my right rear spring shackle is being held on by a very thin piece of steel, about an inch wide. I wrapped a chain around the top of the shackle and hooked it to my reese reciever right around where it bolts to the frame just in case it does break all the way. Any tips on changin it? I know I'll have to find another truck at a junk yard, grind away at the rivets until it goes, and then bolt the new one back on. Not looking forward to this...
settle down, i'll walk you through this one. first is the shackle bad or the mount? regardless you can get them at the ford dealer. you will need to grind off the bolts in the shackle or the rivets on frame. if the shackles let loose they hit the bottom of the bed, you can go pretty far like that, even though i do not recommend it. lots written on this
The mount is rusted away, barely holding on. How much are they at a dealer? They havent hit the bottom of the bed yet, thats why I wrapped a chain around er to keep er from doin that. Any other tips man? Sure appreciate it.
