DEARBORN, Mich., June 17 — <!-- BEGIN: BODYTEXT -->In its latest gambit to boost slumping sales, Ford Motor Co. is offering employees and retirees up to $1,000 in cash to entice friends, relatives and neighbors to buy vehicles with employee discounts.

''If every employee and retiree helps sell just one more vehicle, it would account for over 300,000 sales and an additional two points of market share,'' Steve Lyons, vice president for Ford's North America marketing, sales and service, said in an e-mail sent Wednesday to employees.
A Ford spokesman did immediately return a message left by The Associated Press Friday.
Under the plan, which runs through Sept. 30, employees and retirees will get $50 in cash for the first sale they sponsor, $75 for the second, $100 for the third, $150 for the following four sales and $175 for the eighth sale.
Ford's move follows General Motors Corp.'s recent effort to boost sales by offering all customers the same discounts available to employees. </TD></TR></TBODY></TABLE></TD></TR></TBODY></TABLE>
We received a notice about a "2005 Employee Summer Sales Event," but it really doesn't tell me anything. If this is the same program mentioned above, then it covers A/X/Z-plan purchases. But nowhere in our communique does it mention anything about extra rebates or commissions paid to Ford employees for referrals.

I know it's a long shot now, but does someone clarify "sponser"... If they haven't changed eligibility requirements as Polarbear said, then incentives would just be for the employees of Ford - not potential customers? Or maybe I'm reading wrong (again). ... If not, I have room for one more "FRIEND" in my life. In fact, if I have to swap out a friend, I just may consider that too for the right discount...
No- a Ford employee can sponsor a friend for a X-Plan discount. I think someone posted on the F150 board this AM that he could supply a PIN if anyone needed one.

Forrest- I cheated and read the Ford dealer memo. An employee sponsorship gets you X-Plan pricing.
This link will explain the details.....employees are given incentives to "refer" friends/family to purchase a Ford by increasing the total number of X-Plan pins to 8(?).
I was thinking about buying an 03 or an 04 (first 3/4 truck) then trading it later for 07 but if I can get a loaded F250 for around $36k, I'm starting to work on my "pitch" to the wife.
oh ok... sounds like a good deal.... not that i am in the market for a new truck (just bought one) but would have been sweeter if they offered A or D plan......
Just INCREASE the incentives OR DROP the sticker prices and Ford won't have to worry about more LOST sales to foreign car makers. Today's new vehicles are OVERPRICED. It's as simple as that sports fans.
"Todays vehicles are over priced" ha! So is the gas I want to buy for it. The house I want to buy and the health insurance for my family. So on and on and on.
