First off great web site alot of informative information. I own a 2004 F-250 C/C 4X4 with the 6.0. Truck is in the shop with turbo failure (will not build boost, no power obviously, and truck has major turbo flutter during heavy acceleration or quick deceleration). I'm told by service that the turbo charger vanes are sticking in which i'm in agreement. My question is will a 2005 turbo replace the 2004? I read somewhere that they made an improvement to the 2005 turbo and my service department cannot confirm this.

i have a 2005 in shop as of 6-15-05 turbo started wineing and lost boast without notice. was towed to the dealer waiting for emergency stock to ship a new turbo. so i think they all run the same parts. my truck was built in early 05
I hate to here you guys are having problems already with the 2005's. My 04 ony has 18,000 miles. Service replaced turbo few days ago and the replacement turbo is now doing the same thing. They are contacting Ford Engineers to get advice.
i pick up truck friday at 6pm end of dealer hours. works fine for now!
from all the info gathered on this sight, i bet i'll beback in for a second turbo.
ford has a serious problem with carbon buildup, and i believe it is the cause of the emissions on this motor. its just a matter of time before it happens again.
When I get mine back I will start adding performance diesel inhibitor such as stanadyne to my fuel tank. I believe this will help with the carbon building up. Glad you got yours back and it is doing well. Good Luck!
