It's in a 4x4 truck. She sat for a few months. Then with a jump start, I was off and running around town. After about 30min, I shut her down. That's where the problems started! I can get her to crank over, but the carb gets so full of gas, it starts misting out! The starter sounds different too. Looked under the cap, the rotor turns, tried a different coil, nothing happened. What gives?
First charge the battery up to full charge. To check for spark, pull the coil wire out of the center of the dist. cap. Hold wire 1/4 to 3/8" from valve cover and crank engine. You should have spark. If not get a business card and put it between the points and draw the card throught the points. Check for spark again. If still none change the points ( you could try some fine sand paper, but you will still need to change the points if that works). As to the carb, the float is stuck. First try tapping on the float bowl with a plastic grip of a screw driver handle. If that doesn't stop the flooding, carb rebuild time. A tank full of new premium gas wouldn't hurt either.
