Lagging engine, among other things
I own and daily drive a 1990 F150 XLT Lariat xtra cab w/a 5.8L (351?) engine with about 130,000 miles on it, and when I get to freeway cruising speed (60-65), the engine seems to bog down, as if a spark plug isn't firing (new plugs - Bosch platinum and new plug wires). This problem gets worse going uphill, but at a little less speed... 45 or 50. I end up having to downshift to 2nd to get going again. (new E4OD tranny.. replaced it about a year ago). Anyone else with this problem, or suggestions? Also, i have a B&N shift controller on the E4OD tranny to firm it up, and when it (the B&N) is switched to the #1 position (2 is for racing... i dont use it), and the tranny is in either park or neutral, the transmission makes a loud buzzing sound. There is also a quieter, intermittent buzz while in gear and moving about 2 or 3 mph.. parking lots, etc. Is this something wrong with the tranny fluid pump? Or something else? Any help anyone can offer would be appreciated!
Thanks in advance,
Chuck
p.s.: I read through some of the archives, old posts, etc, and learned several things already, so don't let me down now!

Any decent (online pref.) sellers of exterior upgrades.. grille guards, nerf bars, etc. And I need bith bumpers for the same truck.. 1990 F150 XLT Lariat, in chrome.. I dont need the black plastic trim, though.
Thanks again...
Chuck

I spent almost 6 months trying to figure out why my 4.9 would do much past 60. While replacing an exhaust manifold gasket (had a small leak) I removed my Exhaust system. When I was moving my exhaust system around to put it back on some wierd honeycomb looking stuff came out. It turns out that the two Cats were gone. They were plugged up pretty good.. actually they were plugged up enough to keep the motor from working at the higher rpms (the motor would spin fast but there was no power). I replace my 2 bad Cats with 1 high flow cat and now I have all my power back.. plus a little.
Hope your is this simple also...
Mark
They seem to have a good selection.
