Thumbs up First Oil Change

I thought I would include some of the things I bought and did, on my first oil change to help others out. First and foremost you will need a good container
to drain oil into. All the ones I found at the discount Auto chains had poorly made
caps on them, giving them the potential to leak on the driveway. So here is what I came up with. (1) 31 qt Rubber Maid latchable storage box-Walmart
(1) 36mm socket for filter cap Murray's Auto
(1) 3/4" wrench from your tool box.
(14) quarts of Oil Shell Rotella, use 13.5 only
(1) Fram filter CH9549
Use the 31Qt container to catch the draining oil into, When done drain into 5gallon green pale with lid and haul back to Auto store.

OIL $24.60
FILTER $15.27
31QT CONTAINER $6.47
36MM SOCKET $8.99

Good post.

My .02 I went to Home Depot and purchased a plastic concrete mixing "pan" for about 5 bucks. I've gotten more use out of that than I ever dreamed out. Did an auto tranny service and never spilled a drop of oil on the floor. As for the old oil, I just pour it back in the jugs the new stuff came in.

p.s. Normally I wouldn't let a Fram oil filter get within an arms length of anything I own, however, in another thread right now I just read that they're all made by Racor and just repackaged due to patents.

Fumoto, definitely and any oil filter listed for this 6.0L PowerStroke with the same markings on the filter as the OEM filter.
