i will be installing the Reese Custom Frame Brackets (2 perfect fit ones) on my 05 F-250 for my 15k slider fifth wheel hitch. i had this hitch in my 02 F-250 however i had it mounted with the universal kit brackets (4 small ones). the installation manual quotes, "reduces installation time by 50% compared to universal brackets". has anybody used these brackets yet? i believe reese just came out with these brackets within the past 6 months. will let yall know how the installation goes if interested.
friend and i installed these brackets today on my 05 F-250. they are rated #18,000. install time(reading directions, taking our time to get it right) took us 2 1/2hrs. i truly believe if i had to do it again prob would take 2hrs tops. they are so much more supportive of the frame and bed than the universal kit brackets(4 small brackets). PLUS we only had to drill 2 holes in the frame compared to 8 for the universal brackets. it all looks as if the frame is part of the truck and not an aftermarket. happy rving.....
Towandcamp,
Those sound like what I'm looking for, I am switching my reese 16k slider from my 2000 chevy to my 2006 psd f350 shortbed. Where did you get the brackets? The universal kit looked good on the chevy frame but the ford is much more complex. any info would be great. thanks Phil
