Hooked up the third and final guage today (pyrometer). Tapped direct into the drivers side cast iron exhaust manifold. Pretty easy. Most of the shavings fell down and I used a vacume over the hole to suck any remaining shavings out. For safe keeps I took some duct tape wrapped reverse on a piece of coat hanger and picked up any remaining shavings inside.

I am seeing about 800 deg during normal highway driving and when I get on it about 1000 deg. My truck is stock. How do these temps sound ?

Sounds about right..

My old 03/6.0 S/C S/B 4x4 was running around the same temps.. Of course they were 'strayed' a bit with load, outside temp, elevation/grade, and of course throttle angle if commanded and/or a combination of all of the above..
