I thought i would try one last time and see if anyone knows what is wrong w/my ac.I've got a 99 f 150 triton v8 lariat 4wheel drive. This past winter the heat would hardly ever work. The only way to make it blow hot air would be to turn the ac on.It didn't matter where the thermostat was set at.Hot or cold it would blow heat after a while, the only thing was it was full blast heat.I couldn't turn the temp. down.If I turned it off after I started to melt i would get cold again and then it would blow cold air again.
Now it is summer and it is the exact opposite.I can turn on the ac and it will blow really cold for about 10 or 15 minutes at best and then it turns to hot air.
I know it probably sounds strange but it's true.
I changed the thermostat the other day on a whim and that didn't help.
If anyone can help i'd appreciate it.I thought that maybe it was the blend door but i don't know. What do you think.I hate to get rid of my truck cause I love it but I worry that this is an omen of more trouble to come.
One other thing to go along with my question. My check engine light has been coming on every now and again.I took it to the local auto zone to get them to read the code and the said it was a vaccum line problem. The light usually dosen't stay on long.
Would this have anything to do with the problem?
Thanks again for any help cause it's hot in Tn.
Is there a good way to locate a vaccum leak.I looked around in the engine compartment yesterday morning and it didn't look like anything was loose. Also I checked the lines on the compressor and they are cold.
