Service Engine Soon Light

My 99 7.3 set a service engine soon light and is missing. I replaced the fuel filter and light reset for 150 miles but now is on again and missing again as well. Any Ideas?

Well my buddy was going to come over and scan my truck but it is not setting a code anymore. Took it by Autozone and they found no codes. The truck is runinig great again but the light is off. The gut that was going to come over works for Ford and only does 7.3 and has never seen this before. Any input form ya'll would be great.

Autozone code readers do not work on these trucks. I have seen it many times, again and again. Get someone with and Edge or Superchips programmer in your area, and they can read the codes for ya, and then post them.

why don't you go to a normal technician?

most will read the codes and do some simple diagnosing for and hours time.
i do it all day.
any tech will have a good scanner and give you a better idea of the problem.

They are P codes. As in P0648 or P1600 for example. The 1648 does not exist.

The only "high to low" codes that I know of would be:
P1262 High to Low Side Short - Cylinder 2
or
P1272 High to Low Side Open - Cylinder 2

??
