Any suggestions?

I have an 80 F100 with a 302 and it ran great. One day I started it up and notice a slight rumbling noise but it ran fine and so I drove it. The next day I went to start it and heard the same noise and then the engine wouldn't crank. I could hear the starter hit the flywheel but it would not turn. I ended up replacing the starter, solonoid, and both battery cables with no luck. After spending $60 in new parts it finally hit me to try and turn the engine manually. I first tried rolling downhill and popping the clutch, all I did was stop quickly. I then tried a breaker bar and the engine wouldn't budge. Considering it ran great just before this happened with no noise other than when it started, I think something has the flywheel in a bind, maybe a piece of the clutch that broke off. I gave it to a mechanic to look at but after 8 months of just sitting in his lot with nothing done to it I decided to bring it home and try myself. Any suggestions of what else it may be? I plan on taking the transmission and bellhousing off and seeing if I am right.

Was the truck in neutral when you manual turned it over? If so try turning it in the other direction. Hows the oil look and smell? If the oil smells burnt or wont turn manualy in other direction, Im guessing its seized then your looking at a boneyard replacement, rebuild or a crate motor. If it does rotate in other direction its possible somethings binding the flywheel. drop the starter and remove the thin shield for visual inspection.Good luck
