The truck I just bought is a 95 PSD with 75000 on it .I will just be mostly towing a 8000 lb trailer. It came with a Superchips 1705 Micro tuner. My question is is this a good set up? Is there beterr chips out there or is this one upgradeable.New to all of this kerosine stuff.

Yea, excellent yearly mileage. I average a few more than that per year.

This question by johnny8 is not just really important, it is extremely important.

If you are going to tow with a chip you really need at least an EGT gauge to avoid the potential of damaging your engine.

I have ISSPRO gauges. They aren't the most expensive gages and they match the factory gauges real well. If you start looking, a lot of places have them. Check out our sponsers. Mine came from www.dieselmanor.com. They had the best price at the time I bought mine. When you get them, you will be shocked at some of the temps you run.

Not that hard to do. It took me three evenings to do it (about 5 hours). The hardest part was finding the tap to thread the exhaust for the pyro. Found one at Ace Hardware. I would also suggest putting the pyro (to measure the exhaust gas temps) in the manifold (pre tubo) for the best readings. The good part about this set was all the extra wireing, connecters, etc came with it.

Breez absolute minimum is Exhaust Gas Temp (EGT)
Secondary is Tranny Temp, if automatic, and Boost

Like Joe, I got my ISSPro's from dieselmanor, here is my page on installing them. Its not that bad at all, you need a 1/4 inch NPT tap for the Pyro if you tap the manifold. Or you can use a clamp style on the up pipe, but you want it PRE turbo either way. We used Autometer Z-series in my dad's truck from dieselsite, they came pre assembled and painted and mounted to another stock pillar cover so they were ready to snap in and hook up. That was very nice, cost more, but nice and easier Both ISSPro's and Z series match to the stock guages real well.
