Did you have this problem???
Has anyone experienced their FWD selector (not electronic) disengage (pop-out)? I purchased a '04 (new) and the very next day it started poping out of fwd. I'd rengage it and it would either pop right back out or would stay engaged for 50 or so miles and then pop-out. When it was "in" I would have FWD, when it popped out I was back in rwd. I was a considerable distance from my dealer by the time I discovered my "problem". Well it popped out whileI was on some black ice, as a rengaged the FWD and applied some pedal, the truck got "loose" and I wound up in the ditch w/ moderated front end damage to the tune of $3500. After fixing the damage I had my dealer repair the "problem" They "discovered" that a spring that helps accuate the fwd was of the wrong type, the one on my truck was meant for a Ranger, not a Superduty. They found this out only after looking at my truck, ordering the "ranger" spring again and then trying to install it. It was then they were like "oops" and reordered the right spring.
So My question boils down to has anyone else had or heard of this problem. Was it ever a TSB or was it a recall under the NHTSA? Thanks to all in advance for their input.
PS Sorry for the LOOOONG Post
seeing as how they both mention FWD.. otherwise i honestly have no idea what you're talking about..
