Your local automotive paint supply should have the seam filler (caulk) you need to fill the seam. Just be sure it's clean and dry. I build trailers in my spare time and use it to seal the seams, works fine. I would suggest you sharpen your caulking skills B-4 attempting it on your vehicle, the next step is paint.
Good Luck, HoBo.LaBo

I have this too. my truck is in the shop as we speak. My body man said he will have to grind out the rust, weld/brase in metal and grind some more. He regretfully said he cannot say for sure if it will come back in a year, two or five years down the road.... This is one of the dumb engineering designs of the 67-72 trucks.

Make sure you use a sealer that can be painted, silicone sealents will not hold paint.

You will need to get out as much rust as you can , clean well, then use a convertor product like Osphos or Picklex 20, then prime it. At that , there is no LONG term guarantee for stopping rust anytime, except metal replacement , and even those have new welds to try to stop rust from forming on. And as said before , get a auto paint supplier type seam sealer that is compatable for your topcoat. good luck. jmo
