not here. I always do the 'feedback' research to make sure the people are legit. Seems like you got scammed. Is they guy in any trouble? I'd follow up on that for attempted theft.

I almost did, ordered a tonneau cover for my truck, sent them $300. After 3 weeks, I hadnt received it so I started asking questions. The co said they didnt make a cover to fit my truck, so almost a month later I got credited for it. I asked why they advertised why they had one for my truck, and I basically got a verbal "shoulder shrug". I am now in the middle of a M.O. trace for another thing I ordered, the company said they never received it. Here we go again.

I have only made 5 purchases so far, no bad experiences as of yet, one could have been bad, but the seller made it right for me. The only thing I have found is the way people "present" their goods in the ads to market their product, their descriptive words can be misleading. After receiving my five buys, I never knew there were so many interpretations of " Fantastic condition ! Excellent ! Great condition ! After looking at my purchases where the sellers used these very words to describe their goods that I bought from them, all I can say is, Wow, fantastic, excellent, great , are words that are " truly " in eye of the seller only !

Been on ebay for over 5 years as a buyer and a heavy seller. only had two bad deals. One was a purchase never got item filed with paypal got money back. The other was with a buyer. He claimed he never recieved the item and tried getting paypal to give him his money back. Just had to show proof of delivery.

Just research who you are buying from. If it is to good to be true I guaruntee it is.

I used to sell alot on ebay about 6 years ago, only bought about 20 things or so. Only had one bad experience, really. I tried to buy a car (2 of my 3 cars I've bought on ebay, including my Ford truck) but this one turned out to not even be owned by the person selling it. The title was signed by someone else and I couldn't register it. Luckily, the people finally fessed up that it wasn't even their car and gave me my money back when I mentioned calling the cops on them. So it could have turned out worse I guess, just a big month-long headache.

Got ripped out of $600.00 dollars.

Won a bid on a pop-up camper about 7 years ago. $1350.00 was the final price. I paid $600.00 up front and made arrangements to pick it up & pay the rest when I got there.

When I arrived they weren't there. Camper was chained to the ground (nice camper to) to where I couldn't pull it out of there. Drove the 700 miles back home & contacted them again to make arrangements to pick it up. This happened three time when I finally gave up.

I guess they needed the money more then I have & I learned a valuable lesson. On high dollar items I plan on picking up I don't pay a dime until I pick it up.

Myself, I would question why someone had one of these ""brand new sealed ipod" for 280 dollars". Especially considering how petty criminals love to steal Ipods. I would not bother buying anything over $50 from anyone with under ten positive feedbacks. The risk of scam is just too high unless I could pick it up locally. At least you used PayPal.

I have only bought three times over E-Bay (over 100 sales myself) and 2 of the 3 times the people tried to rip me off. The only good deal was a Sony Mavica camera I bought where it was advertised correctly as in fair shape. The worse was someone that tried to sell me OEM software as retail and sent me a defective CD on top of it. I got a negative from him because I left him one (after getting all my money back including return shipping), but it was worth it.

I just went through a mini-nightmare with ebay myself, and still can't figure out what happened. Out of the blue I got an e-mail (from ebay) telling me I'd won an auction. The item was in the Phillipines and I couldn't even figure out what it was. Something computer-related but I'm not terribly computer literate. I didn't bid on it but it was on my account and all. I've never let anyone else use my account, never told anyone the password and never written it down anywhere, so I really can't tell how it happened. Luckily the seller cut me some slack and cancelled the transaction when I explained the situation. I changed the password on that account and everything else on my computer (big PITA). I haven't done a lot of business on ebay, but up until now everything had gone great. Now I'm pretty leery of even having an account open.

I just bought a brand new piece of equipment for work at 1/3 of what the manufacturer quoted me ($3400vs $11,000) It came from a dealer who had it in stock for a few years from a cancelled order. I've also been able to find used car parts at a fraction of what new would cost. Last year i got a complete set of oxy acet torches for $29.
Ebay 's feedback system gives you a good chance at finding honest vendors.

Camper was chained to the ground
Local hardware store didnt sell bolt cutters?

Ive been sselling and buying on ebay since october of 98.
The key is to ALWAYS look at FB before bidding. When I ship, I always use tracking numbers, I pay with paypal, or send a check or MO with a tracking number. Never been burned, but It's cause I don't set myself up for it. I was banned from ebay once however. I publicly displayed what happened between a seller and I, and EBAY didn't like it, and the seller was really p.o.'d.

Personally I never bid or "Buy it Now" from anybody unless they have 120 sales, and at least 98% positive rep. The only problem I have ever had was where I bought a sub, and they didn't get it out that day because the Fed-Ex guy didn't get it and a few other packages. So they then sent it out to my house with Next Day Air, the following day. There are some really good sellers out there.

However, I have had someone try to scam my name. I got an email from Ebay saying that they believed someone else was trying to use my name, and paypal as well. They had gotten my passwords somehow (trojan) and were trying to buy some big money items. I'm glad Ebay logs IP Addresses.

I've been buying from ebay since 95. I was on dial up with my 386 that I added a ide card and a 1 gb hard drive, and I found the math coproccessor for $1, so I took a chance, set up an account and started buying things. I called my brother and told him about it, and his response was "I've never seen that one, but check out this site," and "oh, yea, like that site will ever last". When my isp went bankrupt and nobody was anywhere near as low as that, I stopped getting online, then my computer got fried, and ebay sold and the accounts were checked, as my email address was no longer valid, I lost that account. I set up a new one in either 98 or 99, and have been more happy then not. I got burned once in 96 for $1, twice from Canada as copyrights on stuff are handled differently, once from a guy who posted it as one thing (didn't understand the technical terms, and took forever to respond to emails) and one attempted burn. I only use postal money order anymore, as I traced the m/o through the post office, as the company said they didn't receive it. I sent them another one, then there bank account information from the first one and explained to them that the post office had started a fraud investigation and it was rectified quick. I have acttually been buying less since the feedback started, due to my tastes in products getting a lot more expensive.

I have been using e-bay for years. Twice items took a very long time to arrive. Contacted the sellers who replied "I mailed it" on xx day - - - In both cases, the items finally arrived and postmarks were what the seller said they should be. Three weeks from Texas to So. California ????? and two weeks from N.J. to California???

All sellers that have shipped either UPS or FedEx the items arrived promptly - a day or two.
