I have 16X10 aftermarket wheels. I want to up my tire size to either 285/75/16 or preferably 305/70/16. I dont have a lift, just a 03' stock FX4 pkg PSD CC 4X4. What do you all think? The local tire guys at BIG-O and Discount tire say both sizes will fit with out a problem.
If your wheels have the right backspacing they should fit. I have 305s on 10" rims on my 350 and there isn't a problem. It's close but no contact on or off road. Although I have a SRW 350 with a gas engine and my truck sets a little higher than yours. If you look around I pretty sure that this question has been asked here before.
I run Bridgestone Revo 285/75/16's on my 04 F250 CC lariat SB with no problems. I think it makes the truck look better and the speedometer/odometer seems to be more accurate. There is a slight decrease in fuel mileage however.
I'd like to tell you the offset on my wheels but I picked them up on Ebay and just got lucky that they fit. I can tell you that they are Eagle Alloys, I think model 186. You could call them or maybe they have something on their website. The big thing that you have to worry about when running wide tires on Super Duties is the springs up front. When turned lock to lock the tires can contact them and nothing good can come from that. Some rubbing can happen on the inter fender well, but other than some noise that isn’t going to hurt anything. Most wheel manufactures know this and compensate for it, but the best, and really only way to know if a wheel and tire combo will fit on your rig is to try them. Hopefully you can find somebody with the combo you want to run on their truck and get them to let you mount them and run them around the block. Or you can just chough up the money and hope to get lucky like I did. Those 10 inch rims you have are a little wide for 285s, but if you can score a set of 8 inchers I’d bet you that they would fit with no problems. The 10 inch with 305s would look cooler, and perform a little better offroad, just be aware that they may not clear in every situation.
Ok, I dont have them on the truck yet but I took a few Photos in the garage. They are in the gallery, quality of the pics isnt so great but im sure you will see some detail.
